Pastor Bankston

Guy grew up in Oregon of the United States of America. He was not brought up in a Christian home, therefore knew very little about Jesus and Christianity, until September of 1980.

While training to become a barber, Guy had a Youth Pastor sit down for a haircut and share the Gospel with him, but it wasn’t until a further two more haircuts that Guy bowed his head and accepted Christ as his Saviour.

In 1981 Guy joined the United States Air Force where he met Debbie, and they were married in 1985. Guy spent 14 years in the military before leaving and taking a job with a government contractor as a Systems Engineer. For five years he and Debbie served at Battlefield Baptist Church in Gainesville, Virginia. It was there that they felt God’s call upon their lives to serve Him. In 1999 Guy left his job to attend Atlantic Baptist Bible College in Richmond, Virgina, and graduated in 2002. While in Bible College he served on staff at Midlothian Baptist Church.

In 2002, Guy and his wife Debbie surrendered to be missionaries to New Zealand.

In June of 2003 they left the United States for New Zealand with their two children, Logan and Erin. They served a little over a year at Kapiti Baptist Church in Paraparaumu Beach, before moving to Palmerston North and starting Harvest Baptist Church. In 2014 Guy was burdened to start a new work and in 2015 he started holding Sunday evening services in Masterton. In 2017 he chartered Harvest Independent Baptist Church of Masterton and turned the work over to Pastor Jerry Judd and Pastor Logan Bankston.

It is Guy’s desire to continue to see the Gospel spread and plant new churches across Aotearoa. Guy loves to go hunting and fishing when he has some time and always enjoys time with his family and eleven grandchildren.

Pastor Cody

Pastor Cody was saved in his hometown of Rotorua in 2011. He was invited to a church service where he heard and understood the Gospel for the first time.

After receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour, he was baptized a few months later.

He moved to Palmerston North where he attended and became a member of HBC and grew in his walk with God.

Pastor Cody studied God’s word for two years (NZBBTP) and interned with the church for several more years. He met his lovely wife, Nicole at HBC and they were married in January 2019. The church voted Pastor Cody as the Assistant Pastor of HBC in May 2023.
